Robert was born on February 26, 1922 in Staten Island, NY to the late Brainard C. Norton and Helen Carmer Norton. He served in the South Pacific for four years with the United States Marine Corp. Robert was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation for 63 years and a member of the West Sanford Congregation. He was an artist and enjoyed painting. Robert enjoyed Big Band Music, swimming, diving and spending time at the shore. He loved sharing his hope about his faith with others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gail Lansing Norton of Sanford; his children: Robert Norton of New Jersey; Laurie Tua and husband James of San Antonio, TX; Sharon Petty and husband William of Little River, SC; James Norton of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Tara Foster, Lena Norton, Hannah Norton, Justin Norton, Jay Norton; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford. Burial will be held privately by the family and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
