She served for a number of years on the Twinfield Union School Board of Directors, and worked for Community College of Vermont for a short time. Also worked at Vt. He was born Feb. 2, 1906, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Lyman O'Hara and Mary (Steele) Beecher. He grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio, and attended schools in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Phillips Andover Academy and Yale University. Mr. Beecher enjoyed a long and varied career in education in Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, Maryland and Vermont, and was a faculty member at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt., for many years. He married Irene Florence Dean on Aug. 31, 1932, in Hillsboro. She died May 19, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Dean Beecher Pitkin of Marshfield, Vt.; a son, Lyman Beecher of Newbury, Vt.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Coxe and Katherine Wright.
No service is planned. Burial will be at a later date in Hillsboro.
