Adelia S. Perry was born on 14 February 1843 in Cabot, Vermont. She died on 10 March 1905 at the age of 62 in Cabot, Vermont.17 Died of "organic disease of the heart." She was buried in Cabot, Vermont. We know very little about Adelia, only that she was a woman of very slight build and somewhat artistic. She made a charcoal drawing of some boys playing by a river under a canopy of trees which has been in the family now for about 130 years, and which hangs on the wall in the same place in her house (in 2021) as it did when she was alive.
It seems that Adelia may have been something of a steadying influence for George. At the time of their marriage, he was a widower of just over a year, a civil war veteran who had been prisoner at Chicago, and there have been suggestions that he drank to excess. Later, as George was unable to make his mortgage payments and was going to lose their farm (the old Osgood farm on Southwest Hill in Cabot), Adelia purchased the neighboring farm (Coburn farm) from the Lanphears. A letter written to Adelia in 1867 by her father indicates that she worked away from home for "a long time," and also that she may have had some inheritance from the estate of her "Aunt Zilpha" and her grandmother. Perhaps Adelia had some money at the time of her marriage.
Adelia and George's children maintained a close family relationship throughout their lives, and the two boys both became hard-working and respected members of their respective communities.

At the 1860 census, Adelia was living with her aunt and uncle Zilpha and Frederic Garfield. Adelia's grandmother, Ruth Hopkins was also part of the household, located on Coits Pond Road in Cabot. Parents: Nathaniel Perry Jr. and Susan L. Hopkins.
