August and Mary Tierney are listed as passengers on the ship City of London, arriving in NY on 24 Aug. 1869 from Liverpool. His age is given as 42. Hers as 45. This puts August's birth date about three years earlier than the birthdate of Augustine Tierney in the 1900 census. Also note there is no child Mary listed. However, we know from the 1900 census of North Kingston, RI that Mary, daughter of Augustine and Mary Tierney immigrated in 1870, and that her father Augustine immigrated in 1869. It seems that Mary came to the US a year after her parents.

I have inferred that Margaret married someone named Williams, because in the 1880 federal census of New York City, the household of Margaret's parents, Augustine and Mary Tierney included their daughter Mary (single), and a granddaughter, Cassidy Williams, aged 2, born Rhode Island.

A Margaret Tierney, born abt 1852 in Ireland married Denis Williams and had children Mary, Ella, Maggie, Joseph, and Alice. Maggie was born in 1878, about the same time as the Cassidy Williams mentioned above. Could be a census recording error? This family lived in Ohio. Parents: Augustine Tierney and Mary Johnson.
