Jane Baxter Trew was born in 1816 in Pennsylvania. She died on 26 August 1900 at the age of 84 in Delta, Colorado. Jane was one of the first women to graduate from Oberlin College (1845). She was a good friend of Sarah Blachly, and it was through this connection that she eventually became the second wife of Sarah's brother, Eben. Like the Blachlys, Jane was preoccupied with religion, and was an energetic participant in the work of her husband in founding Freedman's University. After Eben's death, Jane spent her remaining years with her son Trew and his family, helping to educate the children. She did not get along very well with Trew's wife, Dellie, and partly for this reason, she had her own home when the family lived in Delta. She had a disposition to collapse under stress, which seems to have been inherited by Trew. Parents: Andrew Trew and Jane .

Nelson Trew was born on 1 March 1810 in Pennsylvania. He died on 5 July 1865 at the age of 55 in Trumbull County, Ohio. He was buried in Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington, Ohio. Nelson Trew was born on the first day of March, in the Year of Our Lord, 1810. He was born in the State of Pennsylvania, to Esq. Andrew and Jane Trew.
When Nelson was a young boy, his family moved west to Ohio. Ohio was primarily unsettled territory at the time. Nelson had at least one brother, Robert, two years Nelson's senior.
Robert died at the age of 33, and is buried in West Bazetta Cemetery. Nelson's mother, Jane, died when Nelson was only 14 years old. She was 35 years old.
At the end of summer, year 1830, when Nelson was 20 years old, he married Ms Lua Foot(e, of Ohio. Lua was about the same age as Nelson. They married at Fowler, Ohio.

Nelson's father, Andrew lived to be 65 years old, and died in 1848. He is buried with wife Jane, at Niles City Cemetery, Trumbull County, Ohio.
Nelson Trew was a farmer, and is listed in the Federal U.S. Census in 1860 with substantial wealth. His life was cut short when he was killed by a falling tree on the 5th day of July, 1865.

William Tubbs was born in 1773 in East Lyme, Connecticut. He died between 1823 and 1829 at the age of 50 in Marshfield, Vermont. Jonathan Twiss writes: William Tubbs was born ca 1774 in the eastern part of Lyme, New London County, CT, the son of John Miller Tubbs and Esther [Lewis] Tubbs. This family removed from Lyme to Marlow, Cheshire County, NH, in 1796 and remained there until 1802 when they moved to Lempster [next town over]. After the deaths of his parents, William and his family removed to Walpole where they were enumerated in the 1810 census. In 1818 they removed to Marshfield, Washington Co., VT with their five daughters and one son. William Tubbs was still living in 1822 when he took the Freeman's Oath in Marshfield but was not enumerated in the 1830 Census. So he died between 1823-1830 and was most likely buried in Eaton Cemetery next to the Benton plot as two of his daughters married the two Benton brothers. She later attended Northfield Seminary for further musical instruction. In her professional career she had a beautiful lyric soprano voice. She sang with chamber music groups and a wide variety of choral groups and was soloist of the College Street Congregational Church for many years. She was a longtime member and supporter of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Burlington and a very active member and longtime treasurer of that church's Women's Alliance. She was on the board of directors of the Converse Home and of the Burlington YWCA for many years. She was a member of the Green Mountain Folklore Society, the Vermont Historical Society, and the King's Daughters, and was a supporter of the Royall Tyler Theater and its Shakespearian series.
