bullet Caroline Fisher was born on 16 Jun 1833 in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Parents: Francis Waite Fisher and Charlotte Greyerson Bennett .

bullet Charles Fisher Parents: Charles George Fisher and Celia Baker.

bullet Charles G. (Grandison?) Fisher Photo was born in 1800 in Massachussetts. Charles gravestone in the Common Street Cemetery in Watertown, Massachusetts gives his death date as June 11, 1861 at age 60. He was buried in 1861 in Common Street Cemetery, Watertown, MA. He died on 11 Jun 1864 in Boston, Massachusetts. Charles was referred to in a letter written by his son in 1863.

Boston Death Record gives date as June 11, 1864. Gravestone give date June 11, 1861. Both give age at death as 60 years. I suspect an error in the reading of the gravestone. On September 10, 1858, Miss Adeline E. Fisher received "care of C. G. Fisher (presumably her father) Roxbury, Mass" a letter from her cousin Maggie. On April 25, 1862, Charles G. Fisher, Jr. sent twenty dollars to his father, Charles G. Fisher at 73 & 75 Blackstone St., Boston, Massachusetts.

The 1840 census of Roxbury, Massachusetts lists Charles G. Fisher. His household consisted of a male under five (Charles, Jr., maybe?), a male between 20 and 30, a male between 30 and 40 (Charles himself), a female between 5 and 10 (Adeline), a female between 20 and 30, and a female between 50 and 60 (possibly his mother or mother-in-law?).

The 1850 census of Roxbury, Massachusetts lists Charles G. Fisher, 46, a trader, living with Arthur Fisher, 11, Elizabeth Fisher, 41, Adeline Fisher, 17, and Charles G. Fisher, 10. All born in Massachusetts, and Elizabeth Coverly, aged 62, also born in Massachusetts.

The 1860 census of Ward 11 in Boston lists Charles G. Fisher, 62, a clerk, born in Massachusetts, living with Adeline Fisher, 24, born in Massachusetts, and Charles G. Fisher, 20, a clerk, born in Massachusetts.

Boston Death Records June 11, 1864: Charles G. Fisher, aged 60, Died at 5 Chester Place, Occupation, Trader, born Roxbury. Father: Louis Fisher, born Roxbury, Mother: Mary Fisher, born Warren, RI. Cause of death: Infection of Bowels.

Februaray 13th, 1803, Charles Grandison Fisher was baptized the son of Lewis Fisher in the First Church Dorchester. No evidence in the record that it is this Charles G. Fisher.

Amazing age discrepancy between the records, but there can be no question, at least, that the two census records of 1850 and 1860 are of the same family. Parents: Lewis Fisher and Mary (Polly, Molly) Randall ?.

He was married to Clotilde Elizabeth Whitney on 9 Dec 1830 in Boston, Massachusetts. Boston Marriage Records, December 9, 1830 record a marriage between Charles G. Fisher and Clotilda Elizabeth Whitney. Children were: Adeline Elizabeth Fisher, Charles Gardner Fisher.

"Nashville, Tenn. June 14, 1877. Dear Sister, Although I wrote you last I thought I would write again and find out about your long silence. The last letter I wrote you was Jan 1st 1874. but I never received any answer, and as I had no good news to write I would not write until I heard from you. I have no good news to write now but my prospects look brighter than they did. After five years sickness with the chills & fever and 3 years with a crazy wife on my hands in a state and county professedly to poor to make proper provisions for such, and after my long sickness to poor myself to pay her board at the asylum, I done the best I could by taking care of her myself. I am once more a free man with good health at present with no family but my oldest boy 9 years old. But with no capital to do any thing with I have got to begin at the bottom of the ladder again. Have had the hardest time for the last 7 years that any poor man ever had, but am not discouraged yet. The first four years of my sickness I spent much money for medicine, doctor, and moving in search of a healthy locality. and lost much time and was pretty well broke up financialy when my wife went crazy in the last year of my sickness. My youngest boy, Sammy died while my wife was insane. on the 3rd of Jun 1874. His death hurt me more than the rest of my troubles as he was my baby boy and a most promising child. my favorite. My wife died Aug 30th 1876 and I had rather she had died than lived as she was better off and I could do no good for her, myself, or child while she lived in that condition. The times have been so hard since she died that I have not done much good. I am living in Nashville at present and am doing business in the market for another man for wages but am trying to get some of my friends to stake me so I can get in the business my self. Two or three years ago this would have been no trouble for me to do but now although it would not take more than two hundred dolls for horse wagon and all times are so hard it is almost impossible to make such an arrangement now. I am trying to make a pardneship arrangement with one of my old employers and will if he can get hold of some money that he has wound up in some property. I have given up saw milling entirely as it led me to very unheathy parts of the country. If I had not had the constitution of a mule I should have been dead long ago. If you get this letter and answer it I will write you a longer one next time. The last letter I wrote you was directed to Whiting Manf Co, No Attleboro. I hope this letter will find yourself and family in good health. Give my love and respect to all my relations & friends and write me all the news and all about my acquantances. VIRA PARTIC. Give her my love. Write soon and direct to Chas. G. Fisher care Jas. C Stacey, Colonade Building, Nashville, Tenn."

An awesome find.
My gg grandfather Charles G Fisher was a vet from the 2nd Mass. He was from Roxbury, Ma and after the war lived the rest of his life in Nashville, Tn where he was layed to rest.
Don’t know if he was a member of any veterans club or if he ever returned home, even for a visit.
