bullet Juliette (Jettie) Mabel CARPENTER Photo was born on 29 Apr 1875 in Cabot, Vermont. She died on 18 Dec 1948 in Barre, Vermont. She was buried in South Woodbury, Vermont. Jettie appears to have been named after a cousin of her mother's, Juliette (Jettie) Hazen. Barbara Carpenter wrote of Jettie: "George and Adelia were not pleased when their daughter married at the age of seventeen. She married a twenty-one year old man (Leon Wheeler) from Woodbury." Jettie and Leon lived in the Osgood farmhouse where she was born. Leon had assumed the mortgage which Jettie's father couldn't pay. Their two children were probably born there. Leon died of consumption in 1898, and Jettie then moved into her parent's house across the road, where she was living with her two children when the census of 1900 was taken. "The little girl, Flora, was lame. Her mother often took her to Montpelier for treatments. They travelled by train from Marshfield depot and stayed overnight in the city. At the boarding house Juliet met Bertram Chase whom she later married. Bertram and Juliet then lived at the Osgood farmhouse and also at the Ray Wheeler house (the house next beyond her parent's travelling east). Jettie rented the Osgood house for a year to the Dan Brown family. In 1913, Jettie . . . sold the Osgood place to her brother, Howard." I have a lot of information from Abijah to the current date if you are interested. Myron E. is my grandfather and Myron D is my great grandfather. I saw information about Adrian and Hildon. Both are brothers of my father Dana D. By the way the D in Myro D. is for Dana. I would love to visit with you sometime. I will give you my contact information

bullet William CARPENTER(5) was born in 1603. He died on 7 Feb 1659. William came to Wells, Maine in 1638 from Southhampton, England aboard the ship "Bevis" with his father, his wife, and four sons. He was town clerk of Rehobeth, Massachusetts 1645-1649, and deputy in Plymouth General Court in 1656. He returned to Weymouth, Massachusetts after the death of his father in 1658. Parents: William Carpenter .

He was married to Abigail (Searles, Sale?) ARNOLD . Through some information supplied by Allen Lasky we have found that a woman named Abigail Searles (born 1606 in England, died 1687 in Rehobeth, Massachusetts) married a William Carpenter in England. This may have been the same person as Abigail Arnold. All of the information supplied here about siblings and ancestors of Abigail are those of Abigail Searles (who we do not know to be the same as Abigail Arnold). The death date and place of Abigail Searles are the same as the death date and place of Abigail, the wife of William Carpenter according to "The Carpenter Family of Rehobeth," but no last name is given for her in that work. The name of Abigail Arnold comes to me on a typed sheet tracing the ancestry of the Carpenter family which gives no sources and no information about her. On this sheet was an error which omitted Nathan Carpenter in the line of descent. Also on this sheet was a handwritten correction which changed the name of the wife of Eliphalet Carpenter from Freelove Chase to Freelove Chaffee. For these reasons I think it quite possible that the maiden name of Abigail Arnold could also be in error. This line, and in particular, this marriage, needs to be investigated further. Children were: William Carpenter, Lieut. Samuel CARPENTER, Joseph CARPENTER, John CARPENTER.
