Ron is survived by his wife, Gwen, of 48 years; two devoted daughters, Gwen Blythe of Colleyville, Texas, and Carolyn Adelsten of Centreville. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Gwen Louise and Rachel Blythe. Also left behind is a faithful family dog, Jack, whom Ron lovingly called "J Boy."

Ellen Dean Beecher was born on 14 Nov 1933. Ellen grew up in Kentucky and in Plainfield, Vermont. She was very active in community theater in Central Vermont, serving on the boards of several local companies including the Plainfield Little Theater and the Vermont Opera Theater. She also was a regular performer in local productions for a number of years. Ellen's professional interest was in education. She taught school (3rd grade) for a year at the Twinfield Elementary School, and also taught school for a year in Decatur, Georgia. She served for a number of years on the Twinfield Union School Board of Directors, and worked for Community College of Vermont for a short time. She was an avid reader. He was born Feb. 2, 1906, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Lyman O'Hara and Mary (Steele) Beecher. He grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio, and attended schools in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Phillips Andover Academy and Yale University. Mr. Beecher enjoyed a long and varied career in education in Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, Maryland and Vermont, and was a faculty member at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt., for many years. He married Irene Florence Dean on Aug. 31, 1932, in Hillsboro. She died May 19, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Dean Beecher Pitkin of Marshfield, Vt.; a son, Lyman Beecher of Newbury, Vt.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Coxe and Katherine Wright.
No service is planned. Burial will be at a later date in Hillsboro.

Abijah BEMIS was born on 12 Apr 1791 in Paxton, Massachusetts. He died on 5 Feb 1877 in Marshfield, Vermont. He was buried in Marshfield Village Cemetery. Abijah came to Marshfield sometime after 1806, as did his brothers, Obediah and Daniel, Jr. He settled on the farm where Milton Northrop lived in 1940, later moving onto the farm back of Loveland's ledge where Tom Sicely lived in 1940. He moved there so he could raise wheat. After he had moved, his old neighbor Sylvester Loveland visited him and after mentally comparing his old meadow farm with his new stony hill farm, said to Abijah, "Abijah, where's your dirt?" Abijah married second, Abigail Austin Bemis, the widow of his brother Obediah.
Served in Capt. Roger's Company, Col. Fifield's Regt. Detached Militia,
in U.S. Service 5 months and 27 days, 1812. Volunteered to go to
Plattsburgh, September, 1814 and served in Capt. James English's
