Preston, a young man about twenty nine years of age, was instantly killed this morning in a peculiar manner while at work sawing wood about a mile from the village. The cast iron balance wheel on the circular sawing machine burst throwing the cast iron pieces in every direction. One large piece took effect in the left side of Mr. Preston's head and struck with such force that he was thrown to the ground in an unconscious condition. Men were working near him at the time but in spite of anything they, or the physician who was summoned could do, he died in a short time afterward. The machine was run by a gasoline engine and Mr. Preston made a business of going from place to place sawing wood. He is survived by a wife and two children the younger being only about a week old.
